Stena Vision - V-MAX VLCC
Stena Vision – designed by Stena Teknik and built in Hyundai 2001 – is a good example of Stena innovation. With a length of 333 meter and beam of 70 meters, she can lift 2 million barrels of crude oil on 55 foot draft (16.8 meters). During her first years of operation she shuttled crude oil from West Africa to the shallow Delaware river refinery. Due to the water depth, other ships had to lighter off part cargo to smaller vessels– while the Stena Vision could go all the way – saving time and cost with superior safety. The two so called V-MAX tankers left the Stena fleet in 2008, they were followed by other successful MAX-design tankers.
