The "Waste Toner Box Full" warning you see on your printer indicates that the toner cartridge, where excess toner powder that doesn't adhere to the paper during printing accumulates, has reached its capacity. This is not a malfunction, but a routine maintenance warning to keep the printer clean.
Here are the steps you can follow to resolve this issue:
1. The Definitive Solution: Replacing the Waste Toner Box
The manufacturer's recommendation and the safest method is to replace the full cartridge with a new one.
Locate the Cartridge: It's usually a plastic box with a locking mechanism, located on the back or side of the toner cartridge.
Remove it Carefully: Try to hold the cartridge upright while removing it; the powder inside is very fine and can easily scatter, potentially harming your respiratory system.
Install the New Cartridge: Once you've installed the new unit, the printer will recognize the cartridge with a "click" sound, and the warning will automatically disappear.
2. Temporary Solution: Emptying the Toner Cartridge (Not Recommended, But Possible)
If you need to print urgently and don't have a spare toner cartridge, you can try emptying the existing one. However, be careful: This is a very messy process, and wearing a mask is recommended.
Place the mouth of the cartridge into a large garbage bag.
