Infuriating OneNote bug which makes it hopelessly unusable on ipad.

I am tearing my hair out over the terrible bugs in version 16.72 (23040300) of OneNote for my ipad air 5th Gen (iOS 16.4 (20E246)) with apple pencil 2nd gen. Whenever you attempt to flit between eraser and pen or pen and eraser the device goes into text mode and brings up a keyboard and/or refuses to change mode at all unless you select lasso mode!
