In this video a long reach MOTOMAN robot from YASKAWA is welding a thing gauge mild steel assembly at Alpha Manufacturing in the UK. The robot is configured with a twin station two axes positioner, which allows access to all joints in a favourable welding position. The Fronius CMT (Cold Metal Transfer) welding equipment delivers unrivalled process capability. Critical in this application is that the corners should be welded without burning away the edges and at the same time creating a flat weld profile that only requires a minimum of dressing afterwards.

Main benefits:
The dual station cell provides high levels of arc on time thus increases productivity.
The twin axes positioner allows the robot to be used for welding complex assemblies.
The robot cell allows the customer to de-skill welding of complex, repetitive assemblies.
The Fronius CMT equipment gives the robot additional flexibility for welding both very thing gauge materials as well as aluminium.

YASKAWA delivered a turnkey solution that included a set of universal welding fixtures and robot programming. The system is working at Alpha Manufacturing Ltd in the UK www.alphamanufacturing.co.uk.
