GMD 2021: Prof. Ilan Pappé: The Genocide of Gaza Revisited
Welcome to Genocide Memorial Day (GMD) 2021 where we remember man's inhumanity to man.
This year due to Covid 19 Genocide Memorial Day is available online as a series of on-demand videos.
GMD has taken place every year on the third Sunday of January since 2010. GMD raises awareness of genocide so that new generations can understand the causes and recognise the warning signs of such atrocities.
For the GMD project, the act of remembrance is not limited by the background of either the victims or the perpetrators of any of the genocides.
This year we are focusing on the divisive politics that results in the demonisation of communities. Demonisation forms part of the dehumanisation process, the third of a series of eight stages of genocide famously expounded by Gregory Stanton.
