I’ve often joked about experiencing ‘adult-onset faerie identity.’ It seemed a bit silly to me to be traipsing around in a gossamer gown as if I truly were an English language ELEMENtal. Then, several years ago, I found the following passage in Spiritual Teachings of the Avatar – Ancient Wisdom for a New World by Jeffrey Armstrong/Kavindra Rishi. And when I read it, I finally felt that I’d identified my origin and species:
“ … The Vedas also describe the Avatar of Devas who take birth as humans. For example, a Deva might be born into a human family to lead humans in a time of crisis. Almost all indigenous cultures have stories about extraordinary beings born into the tribes––beings who inspired them to new levels of peace and cooperation with Mother Earth. These great people probably were Avatars of a Deva, divinely sent by the All Mother.”
