You are watching a time-lapse of how our sky in gamma rays has changed over 14 years, captured by the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope, which studies high-energy gamma rays from space. Gamma rays are the most energetic form of light and are associated with the most violent events in space. Since we cannot see gamma rays, the colors in the time-lapse represent their intensity. The sky is not static, and we can see dynamic changes. The center of our galaxy in the middle. Objects on the galactic plane are mainly pulsars, while outside the plane are very distant galaxies called blazars. The continuous moving object is our Sun, and sometimes you can even see its eruptions. Thanks to Fermi, we can see and monitor the violent side of our universe from a different perspective.
