Peace Talk Between Ika Community And The Local Coal Miners
The Hon SSA on security matters of Ankpa LG Hon Ibrahim Abagwu today in his quest to curtail crisis in Ika between the local coal miners and the community today invited both parties involved which in attendance are, The Onu Aloga Ika, The chairman local coal miners, The committee on chieftaincy affairs, And the youth representatives. to the presence of Alh Isiaka Alfa (WAALI) at his residence in Ankpa LGA.
The SSA in his speech said before he assume office, there was a committee set up at the Local government in previous administration to monitor the issues of chieftaincy affairs in Ankpa LG. The SSA said notice was brought before him in his office about the ongoing crisis between both parties and by the power conferred on him his as the SSA to governor on security matters Ankpa LG it’s his duty to make sure he brings the crisis to an end.
One of the complaint said on 8th of March 2020. Beshiru yunisa and Ademu Bala came to give them a report at the site about the crisis of royalties in going on between ika community and the king. Adamu said while in the process, his truck full loaded with coal was been seized by the King.
The complaint further said, he made a report to the ministry of LG and chieftaincy affairs and he was been referred back to Ankpa where a committee in been set up by the past administration.
The Hon. SSA with immediate effect dissolved the committee of the chieftancy affairs in Ankpa and the reason for the dissolvation is that they worked beyond there designated duties. They are suppose to monitor chieftancy affairs and why would they breach the order by causing mayhem between both parties? Hon SSA also said they lack the skills needed to carry out there responsibilities and he also blame them for been partial in discharging there duties as this might lead to future crisis.
The Hon SSA further explained that the other parties should not address themselves as the acting Onu Of Aloga Ika since they have substantial king for now and court has not giving verdict. it might led to another crisis in future, he urged them to be patience till when the court give judgement. before they could take any step concerning the Kingship tussle.
While everything is been settled by both parties, The Hon SSA gave directives that the King of Aloga in ika should returned the truck of coal he collected illegally from Adamu for peace to reign in ika and for things to return back to normalcy.
While all the stakeholders agreed for peace to reign in Ika, the Hon SSA thanked everyone present for taking there time out for the dialogue to be possible, he expressed joy as peace has returned to Ika community and both parties signed a peace document before the security agent that who ever violates the rules will face the wrath of law.
