Kibbutz Mashabei Sade - BIG ISSUE!
The repatriate's diary would not be complete without notes on the kibbutzim and the program we used to repatriate.
The topic is not easy, because the kibbutz, like relatives, is not chosen. But, oddly enough, everyone lives in the very best of them.
To some extent, we can say that the kibbutzim preserved the true spirit of Israel, as the islands from which its construction began.
What is their uniqueness, how do they live today and why until now, fully sharing the ideas of Zionism, do not close down, but accept new members and give shelter to new repatriates?
The history of each of the kibbutzim is unique and deserves a separate film. It was with this thought that the idea of creating a joint project with the "First Home in the Motherland" program - Kibbutz Live was born.
As part of this project, we will visit different kibbutzim that accept new repatriates under this program, we will talk with local residents and olims who started their journey there, and some even stayed forever. Let's talk about a program that has been in operation for over 30 years and how it helps you land softly in Israel.
We decided to start the cycle of films with kibbutz Mashabei Sade for several reasons:
Firstly, it is located in the Negev Desert, which occupies 60% of Israel's territory,
Secondly, every year he receives new families of repatriates from different parts of the world.
Thirdly, it was he who became the first home of the program director Elena Kovarskaya, who still lives there!
So what is a kibbutz?
Kibbutz - (in Hebrew קִבּוּץ; originally קְבוּצָה, quutsa "group") - an agricultural king in Israel, characterized by a common property and equality in labor and consumption.
According to official statistics, only 2% of Israelis chose this way of life, and they probably made the right decision.
This definition is given by Wikipedia. And how are things today and in reality? This is what we have to figure out.

Some general information about kibbutz Mashabey Sad:
Mashabei Sade is a kibbutz located in the heart of the Negev Desert.
Today, the kibbutz is home to about 500 residents (members of the kibbutz and new immigrants)
History
The kibbutz was founded in 1947 in the Halutz dunes, and was originally known as Mashabim (in Hebrew, literally "resources").
During the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, the kibbutz was attacked by the Egyptian army, but held out.
After the end of the war, the kibbutz moved to its current location.
It was renamed Mashabey Sad in honor of the leader of the Palmach - Yitzhak Sade.
Economy
In addition to agriculture (field crops, poultry and dairy products), the kibbutz also operates a plant, Sagiv, which produces brass ball valves and fittings. The kibbutz has a guest house.
