Preview of my mod for Fallen ~Makina and the City of Ruins~
First look at the 1080p Full HD visual upgrade and new sound design.

I've reformatted the game to run at 1920 x 1080 pixels (FHD). This resulted in an overall crisper image throughout the entire game, especially when played on a 16:9 1080p monitor. Textures look very clear and detailed now, and you can see more of the current map. This also makes camera scrolling less intense because it's pulled back away from the player character, who is moving around at speeds faster than the original game. This should help alleviate some of the blurriness from camera scrolling. However, you can also notices a number of new bugs and anomalies, especially during cutscenes or portrait dialogue. In turn-based battles, the character sprites have the wrong scale and magic attacks seem to miss their target completely but enemies still take damage from them. So I will have to go through and fix these things later. But for now, I'm very happy with how the rest of the game looks at this new resolution.

Sound design during real time battle sequences has been reworked to add more variation. If you listen closely to the sounds in an older video, you'll notice the sword slashes, flame attack, and debris destruction all use the exact same sound each time for every occurrence. Over a period of time, these same sounds become very tedious and grating to listen to, and having replayed these areas many, many times, I've found myself avoiding combat just so I could avoid these sounds. But by varying the pitch, volume, and/or sound effect itself for each occurrence, it makes the combat more dynamic and satisfying. And now I find myself looking forward to the realtime combat sequences again.

I've also changed the speed of battle animations. Everything should look and feel a bit faster, more intense, and more fluid now (Compare them to an older video that shows particle effect animations running at around 30 frames per second. The new speed makes animations look closer to 60 fps) This also has the side effect of speeding up turn-based battles, since the animations are rushed. So now you don't have to hold a button down to speed things up during boss fights.

So far, only the first two biomes of the Ruins have been fully updated with the new dynamic battle sounds. This is due to the way I had enemies set up in their events (Each enemy event was its own isolated event, so if I made one change to a certain enemy such as the amount of exp it gives, for example, I would have to manually change every single enemy of that type in every floor they appear in the ruins). The new enemy events have a reworked system that makes better use of common events, so it will be less work for me in the future if I want to make changes to anything in a particular enemy event.

I'm currently replacing these new enemy events in the rest of the ruins, so this will take some time, on top of all the new work I will have to do in light of this new HD reformat. Thanks for your patience.
