Shelly Cashman Excel 365 | Module 5: End of Module Project 1 Shasta Outdoors

PROJECT STEPS

Luis Valencia is a financial analyst for Shasta Outdoors, a manufacturer of outdoor gear and clothing in Seattle, Washington. Luis is analyzing the revenue generated from the sales of five product categories and asks for your help in completing the analysis.

Go to the Annual Sales worksheet. In the range C5:C9, Luis wants you to consolidate the sales data from Quarters 1–4 in the previous year. In cell C5, enter a formula using the SUM function and 3-D references to total the sales for camping gear using the data on the Quarter 1, Quarter 2, Quarter 3, and Quarter 4 worksheets. Fill the range C6:C9 with the formula in cell C5 to calculate the total annual sales for the other product categories.

Luis also wants you to display the total product sales from 2027. This data is stored in another workbook.
In cell H4 of Luis's workbook, insert a formula using an external reference to cell C10 in the Products worksheet in the Support_EX365_EOM5-1_Products.xlsx workbook.

Luis asks you to make some changes to all five worksheets, which have the same structure.
Group the Annual Sales, Quarter 1, Quarter 2, Quarter 3, and Quarter 4 worksheets. In cell B3 of the Annual Sales worksheet, enter a formula using the TODAY function to display today's date.

In the range E5:E9 on all five worksheets, Luis asks you to project 2029 annual sales for each product category, rounded up to zero decimal places so the values are easier to remember.
In cell E5, enter a formula using the ROUNDUP function that adds the sales for camping gear in 2028 (cell C5) to the sales for the same camping gear (cell C5) multiplied by the projected increase percentage (cell D5). Round the result up to 0 decimal places. Fill the range E6:E9 with the formula in cell E5.

Ungroup the worksheets. Use the quarter name in cell B13 of the Annual Sales worksheet to fill the range C13:E13 with the names of the remaining quarters in the year.

In the first quarter of the year, Shasta Outdoors sold 3,750 products in the new Water Sports division. The company wants to increase the sales of water sports products to 4,500 units by the fourth quarter.
Project the sales for Quarters 2, 3, and 4 by filling the series for the first projection (range B15:E15) with a linear trend.

Luis asks you to determine how many water sports products the company would sell if sales increased by 2.5 percent each quarter.
Project the sales for Quarters 2, 3, and 4 for the second projection (range B17:E17) based on a growth trend using 1.025 as the step value.

Luis asks you to illustrate how the sales in each product category contributed to the total annual sales for 2028.
Create a 3-D pie chart that shows how each product category (range B5:B9) contributed to the total 2028 sales (range C5:C9). Move and resize the chart so that it covers the range G5:H17.

To make the 3-D pie chart easier to interpret, type Product Sales 2028 as the chart title. Add data labels to the chart as data callouts. Explode the largest slice (Winter 23%) by 20 percent.

Go to the Quarter 1 worksheet. Luis asks you to create a copy of the worksheet to continue tracking sales in 2029. Create a copy of the Quarter 1 worksheet at the end of the workbook. Rename the copy using Quarter 1 2029 as the worksheet name.

On the Quarter 1 2029 worksheet, clear only the contents from the range C5:C9. In cell C4, use 2029 Sales as the column heading. In cell E4, use 2030 Sales as the column heading.
