Huawei Built Apple’s First Foldable… But There’s a Catch
The Huawei Pura X Max in Interstellar Blue might be one of the most interesting foldable phones of 2026. It has a 5.4-inch outer screen, a huge 7.7-inch wide inner display, HarmonyOS 6.1, Kirin 9030 Pro, a 5,300 mAh battery, 66W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, IP58/IP59 protection, and Huawei’s XMAGE camera system. But this is not a normal foldable review. Apple is rumoured to be working on a wider foldable iPhone, Samsung is rumoured to be preparing a Galaxy Z Fold Wide, and Huawei may have jumped first into the foldable shape everyone else is about to chase. But daily-driving the Pura X Max is not easy. Google Calendar would not work for me, Google Pay is missing, Gboard would not install, and the cameras did not blow me away. So is this the future of foldables, or a beautiful blue warning sign?
