Unnamed Player Putting Routine / Should This BS Be Allowed?
The routine is as follows:
1.) Consult a highly detailed book showing every slope of the green...
2.) When it's his turn to putt, take several seconds to line up the line you drew on the ball with the direction you intend to putt...
3.) Takes his stance, while his caddy stands directly behind him...
4.) Caddy observes his putters' aim and the line on the ball, verbally tells him to aim one or both of them left or right of where his alignments currently are. Adjust feet/putter until they both agree...
5.) Step off and take a few seconds to re-adjust the line on the ball based on what his caddy told him. Caddy walks away...
6.) Takes his stance again, and finely hits putt 💤💤
I understand they changed the rule which now prohibits the caddie from standing behind the player during a shot. This technically isn't breaking that rule, but is an obvious workaround. I think Wolff and Furyk have similarly difficult to watch routines
Is what he's doing less impressive than a golfer who lines up his shots all by himself? How long would Bryson be able to do this before they amended the rule? This isn't meant to be a slow play thread, but how often would you invite a guy who uses this routine to play in your weekend group?
