This video explains the five process groups of project management, as grouped in the PMI PMP PMBOK-5.
All the 47 processes are grouped into 5 process group in PMI PMP standard. Those process groups are initiating process group, planning process group, execution process group, monitoring and control process group and closing process group.
These five Process Groups have clear dependencies and are typically performed in each project and highly interact with one another.
These five Process Groups are independent of application areas or industry focus.
Individual Process Groups and individual processes are often iterated prior to completing the project and can have interactions within a Process Group and among Process Groups.
The nature of these interactions varies from project to project and may or may not be performed in a particular order.
The project management processes are linked by inputs and outputs where the result or outcome of one process becomes the input to another process but not necessarily in the same Process Group.
Also please note that the Process Groups are not project phases.
