But, let's change topics to the Oura Ring 3 again. So here's what you need to know about the new Oura Ring 3 features - the app and the ring have been updated lately so that the new features have been added. So here's what you need to know:
✅ You can now track your heart rate variability with the "record workout HR" function. In the past, Oura Ring only tracked your heart rate at nighttime. With the second-generation ring you could use your ring during the day when you weren't moving. Now you can track your heart rate during a workout, well, in theory at least.
✅ During the record workout heart rate function, you can only pick a few options, such as outdoor running, cycling, and walking. Gym workouts or other options aren't included, but I've been using it during the rowing while I use indoor cycling. Also, during the workout you can't see real time data
✅ I know from using my heartrate tracker though that I got to a higher number than the heartrate recorded by the Oura Ring in the app so it's quite a bit off. The activities screen seems to be a bit more accurate though but here you can scroll across your numbers. What's a bummer is that you can't see the sprints in the data and can't see live heart rate data though
✅ There's an almost 15 heart rate difference between my Polar Vantage reading and the Oura Ring 3 reading for daytime numbers, for average heartrate. The maximum is 176 on the Polar and 160 on the Oura. Another comparison for another day was more accurate though, but still had a 5 heartbeat difference for the average
✅ Next up, there's the overnight blood oxygen levels. I measure 98% on that and I sleep with mouth tape. This data is included with the nightly heart rate data and HRV
✅ You can also track your movement when you run or cycle, which is on the Oura website - I don't want to do that as I'm not interested. The function uses GPS
✅ The new Oura App has been updated big time, which I like. The sleep data is much better in the new version too. Not much has changed in the app though
✅ The home screen has been updated to have more of a dashboard look, which I really like. There's also a new Ouraview option and a monthly report. The Ouraview is really cool and useful because it helps you look back on the previous week. I even learned some new things, such as that I sleep better on Sunday and I sleep a bit longer than on weekdays. The data could go a bit deeper here though
✅ In the monthly data you can see progress over a longer period of time, with monthly measurements or averages, which is also neat. The only downside here is that it took me a long time to find the Ouraview and monthly data though
✅ And, lastly, my ring has a lot of scratching after wearing it for some time
✅ Hopefully, I can use the Oura 3 features for the rowing in the future!
