Brothers:
None of us lives for himself, and no one dies for himself. For if we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. For to this end Christ died and rose again, that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.
Why then do you condemn your brother? Or why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.
For it is written: "As I live," says the Lord, "every knee will bow to me, and every tongue will confess to God." So each of us will give account of ourselves to God.
Luke 15:1-10
At that time all the tax collectors and sinners drew near to Jesus to hear him. At that the Pharisees and scribes grumbled, saying, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them."
Then he told them this parable:
"Which one of you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the lost one until he finds it? And when he finds it, he puts it on his shoulders with joy and goes home, and calls together his friends and neighbors and says to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.'" I tell you, in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.
Or what woman, having ten drachmas, if she loses one drachma, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she calls together her friends and neighbors and says, "Rejoice with me, for I have found the drachma that I lost."
In the same way, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.
