Google Chrome is removing the lock icon from websites in version 117. But don't panic! This doesn't mean that websites are no longer secure. In fact, HTTPS is still the standard for secure web browsing. However, the lock icon can be misleading, as it gives the impression that a website is safe and trustworthy, when in reality it could be malicious.
The new Google Chrome icon will still allow you to see if a website is using HTTPS, but it will be more neutral, indicating that security is the default state. This is a good thing, as it will help to prevent users from being deceived by websites that use fake lock icons to trick them into thinking they are secure.
