In this video, I will teach you how to use buses within Cakewalk by BandLab. Buses are a must use tool when it comes to mixing and routing audio in any daw. In this tutorial, I will teach you what buses are, why they are useful, and how to implement them within Cakewalk.
So what are buses? In a real world scenario they pick up people and drop them off at destinations. This is the same case in music production except that the people are audio. You can look at buses as a middleman of getting audio to a destination. That can be getting audio to another bus, to a headphone mix, or to your speakers.
So why are buses useful? Buses are useful for creating submixes and FX returns. Submixes are important as they make mixing much easier. They also allow you to create a more cohesive sound for the tracks you group together. FX returns are the most popular use for buses. This is where we put reverb, delay, and other time based effects. You want to look at using buses for your effects as opposed to putting them directly on a track.
