it didn't used to feel so easy
my whole being with a hundred faces
some of whom I didn't wish to shed light on
grew stronger in the dark
I followed my golden thread
a feeling that delivered me to places
the dreams I wrote down when I was 16
stashed & rolled up in a Buddha statue somewhere
I came to London
at the end of phase 3
I was pushed
& all previous success
washed off of me
quicker than I could imagine
I worked in a shop
10h 4 days a week
& got sadder & sadder
the doubt I had never allowed myself to have
surfaced & took a stronghold over me
until I crumbled
to build myself anew
You were a leap of faith
but I still couldn't see you
for the man that you were about to become
instead I saw my own demons
in your reflection
you were looking for a safe haven
instead of a competitor
as every heartbreak
peeled off a layer of untruth
the more I ran towards my dreams
the more I got lost
the more I ran towards home
the more I arrived
& now I tend to my own garden
somewhere between dandelions and irises
I can reach deep into the dark fertile soil
into the grave of my past selves
& pull out assisted memories
