Upgrade or Update Ubuntu 14.04 to ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus)
Note:- Before proceeding to Upgrade ubuntu it is advisable to backup your important files on the Desktop / Laptop machines. Even though no files are lost in the upgrade process
Steps on how to Upgrade Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus)
1. To check the version of ubuntu you are running on . Open the "Terminal" & type the following command and press enter
lsb_release -a
2. Now open "Software Updater" from Dash
3. Install any pending available updates
4. Open the "Terminal" & type the following command and press enter
sudo update-manager -d
5. Type your password and press enter
6. It will check for updates & prompts you about Ubuntu 16.04 LTS update
7. Click on "Upgrade" button & follow the instructions
8. The setup process may take 1-3 hours tie depending upon your internet connection.
9. Restart your system to complete the Upgrade process
10. To confirm whether you have updated to ubuntu 16.04 LTS . Open the "Terminal" & type the following command and press enter
lsb_release -a
It will show you the Ubuntu version
