John Baird: Liar! - ecoSanity.org
On Wednesday, December 5th, at the end of Minister of the Environment, John Baird's "Canadian action on climate change: Laying a foundation for our future" luncheon speech at The Economic Club Of Toronto, a suited ecoSanity.org 'Green Defender' (volunteer) rose in protest with a cloth banner that read LIAR. As he was escorted out of the room, he yelled, "Stop sacrificing my generation", and "You're sacrificing my generation for business!".
Our government says it won't act to save our future and the future of our children unless every other government does, too (U.S., China, India).
Per capita, Canada is one of the most affluent, wasteful and culpable rich nations on the planet. At this time of unprecedented opportunity for our government to lead by example, it has instead chosen the role of key saboteur of our children's -- not to mention humanity's -- ability to even have a future, let alone one worth living in.
Canada must redeem itself. We must fulfill our Kyoto obligations and we must commit to aggressive caps and reversals of emissions -- not IF or WHEN everyone else buys in, but SO everyone else buys in, FAST!
