Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! In this video, we'll be discussing how to change the source data for a pivot table in Excel 2007. This is a question that was sent in by Dan, who recently upgraded to Excel 2007 and was having trouble finding the option to change the data source for his pivot table.
In previous versions of Excel, it was a simple process to change the data source for a pivot table. You could just right-click on the pivot table, go to "Pivot Table Wizard", and easily change the data. However, in Excel 2007, the pivot table interface has been changed, making it a bit more challenging to find this option.
So, let's take a look at how to change the source data for a pivot table in Excel 2007. First, we'll insert a pivot table by going to the "Insert" tab and selecting "Pivot Table". Instead of the familiar wizard, we now get a single screen to specify the data. Once we've selected our data, we can click "OK" and the pivot table will be created.
Now, if we want to change the data source, we can't just right-click on the pivot table like we used to. Instead, we need to go to the "Options" tab on the Ribbon and click on the "Change Data Source" button. This will take us back to the step in the wizard where we can change the data. It's a bit different from the previous method, but it still gets the job done.
Of course, there are other ways to change the data source for a pivot table, such as using dynamic ranges.
