XBook Chapter 18 - Fly, William, Fly (JUST THE CHAPTER - AUDIOBOOK / NOVEL)
It’s 1918 and aliens are invading the Earth. By this point in the story, our human protagonist has armed himself with a new weapon to help him attack the aliens, and our alien protagonist/antagonist is trying to work out why the first wave of the invasion has not gone well.
XBook is a novel that I wrote when I was a young and aspiring author. I then did a Master’s Degree in writing which kicked the passion for writing out of me and replaced it with just pages of bullet notes because apparently planning is important. I’ve barely written since my Degree.
It's a sci-fi/historical/surrealist fiction mess, with those 3 genres mashed together with none of the tropes that make any of them, individually, successful. I read it out as an audiobook.
Still don’t know what all of this is? XBook is a novel that I wrote when I was in my late teens and early 20’s. Over many rewrites, it turned from a simple story of aliens invading the Earth at the end of the First World War into a surrealist clash of science fiction and nightmarish dreamscapes. It never got published. Thank God for the Internet, otherwise, there would be no other way to release this story to the masses.
