Welcome to the Free WordPress Series
In this video, you’ll learn how to edit WordPress plugin and theme files directly from your WordPress dashboard using the Plugin and Theme Editor. This is helpful when you want to make small custom changes to your site’s functionality or appearance — but use it with caution!

What is the Plugin/Theme Editor in WordPress?
The Plugin and Theme Editor lets you access and modify the actual code files of installed plugins and themes. These include PHP, CSS, and JavaScript files that control how your site behaves and looks.

How to Edit Plugin or Theme Files in WordPress
Step 1: Login to your WordPress Dashboard
Step 2:
To edit a plugin: Go to Plugins → Plugin File Editor
To edit a theme: Go to Appearance → Theme File Editor
Step 3: From the top-right dropdown, select the plugin or theme you want to edit
Step 4: Click on the specific file (like style.css or functions.php) from the file list
Step 5: Make your code changes carefully
Step 6: Click Update File to save your changes

Important Tips
Editing plugin or theme files directly can break your site if the code is wrong. Always create a backup first or use a child theme for theme edits. For plugins, consider using “Code Snippets” plugin to add custom code safely without touching original plugin files.
