A subscriber of mine published a wonderful article on this topic on Habr: https://habr.com/ru/articles/1013236/ . And I agree and confirm everything written there. How HRs, instead of solving the problem of a lack of toilet paper in the restrooms of all offices and factories, choose the best shade of gray from 150 RAL samples that will increase employee productivity. Overall, it's interesting; read it; I won't rehash it. But I'll tell you a story.

At one company, in our management office, we had:

1. An HR department of four people, including an adaptation psychologist;
2. A project manager, responsible for office supplies and needs;
3. A supply manager, also known as a purchasing and logistics manager;
4. And then deputies, vice presidents, and other very important people.

So, one day, another department was moved into our office, the open space was compacted, but for some reason, they didn't even buy toilet paper, soap, light bulbs for the chandeliers, or batteries for mice and other devices for just one department. Not to mention the people who had moved. And this whole gang of very important people and "HR friends" responsible for the "atmosphere" spent a month passing off the toilet paper supply task at head office. Accountants wouldn't accept payments for purchases "outside the billing period," HR, including the adaptation psychologist, wrote formal replies that the "project manager" was to blame; the project manager passed it on to the supplier, and the supplier passed it on to HR. Meanwhile, HR was developing a seminar on retention and burnout and passing off a psychological satisfaction test. The deputies and "vices" couldn't care less about the problems of the Indians; they have grand ideas about SCRAM, Agile, and kaizen.

Who ended up supplying the office with soap and toilet paper for a month so employees would stop wiping their poop with their fingers? That's right. My colleague, a lineman from the neighboring department, and two department heads were myselves. We pooled our money and bought it from the store next door.

No, we weren't impoverished; we had excellent salaries. But the fact remains. Absolutely all the management geniuses who are "heads in the hole" couldn't care less about the basic everyday problems of employees. For a month, no one has bothered to solve this problem or take responsibility for anything other than the personal finances of their team leads.

That's the reality. And HR's words, "We are friends of our employees," are fairy tales for the naive and immature.
