Some older reverbs will often only let you get a 50/50 mix of wet to dry. But you can always split your signal before the reverb pedal, flip the phase of the dry signal and recombine everything so that you are left with just the reverb; which can be a really cool way to properly 'hear' the reverb on these older pedals, and increase the amount of ambience.
