Bobby Robson’s Ipswich: The Rise, Glory and Collapse of a Football Miracle
Before the Premier League and before English football’s biggest clubs dominated Europe, Ipswich Town built one of the most remarkable teams the country had ever seen.
Under Bobby Robson, Ipswich rose from an unsettled First Division side into FA Cup winners at Wembley and UEFA Cup winners in 1981. Built around players like John Wark, Paul Mariner, Mick Mills, Terry Butcher, Arnold Muhren and Frans Thijssen, Robson’s Ipswich became one of the most admired teams in Europe.
This is the full story of Bobby Robson’s Ipswich Town — their rise through the 1970s, the FA Cup triumph in 1978, the unforgettable UEFA Cup run in 1981, and the decline that followed Robson’s departure before relegation in 1986.
