Synopsis:
VOL. I
The period in which Hamka served as a Muhammadiyah administrator in Makassar and successfully brought rapid progress to the organization. Hamka also began writing newspaper literature, and his romances were popular with readers. Hamka and his family moved to Medan, where Hamka was appointed editor-in-chief of the Community Guidelines magazine. This position brought Hamka into conflict with the Japanese, leading to its closure as it was deemed dangerous. Hamka's family life was shaken when one of their children died of illness. Hamka's attempts to approach the Japanese were instead perceived as sycophancy and hostility, leading to Hamka being asked to resign from his position as a Muhammadiyah administrator.

VOL. II
Shortly after the proclamation of Indonesian independence, and the threat of a Second Aggression from the Allied forces emerged, Hamka decided to travel throughout Medan to spread the word about the importance of unity between the community (religious leaders) and the Indonesian military, to prevent being pitted against each other. However, this ultimately resulted in Hamka being shot. Fortunately, Hamka survived, and as a result of his services, Hamka moved to Jakarta and founded Al-Azhar. However, Hamka was falsely accused of involvement in the rebellion against Sukarno. Hamka was arrested and tortured to sign a confession. Hamka survived and learned his lesson by writing the most influential book in Islamic education, the Al-Azhar commentary.

VOL. III
In this third part, we will meet Hamka as a young boy growing up in Maninjau, West Sumatra. From an early age, Hamka showed a keen interest in tradition and literature, neglecting his education at an Islamic boarding school (pesantren). This often caused young Hamka to clash with his father, Haji Rasul. The conflict with his father escalated when his mother divorced him. Hamka decided to study in Mecca and perform the Hajj on his own. There, Hamka learned about organization, discovered the Hajj rituals (with the blessing of the King of Saudi Arabia), and received the greatest mission of his life: establishing Islam in Indonesia. However, this was not easy, as his father did not readily acknowledge Hamka's abilities. In the midst of his anxiety, Hamka met Siti Raham, an extraordinary woman who became the greatest source of romantic inspiration in his life.
