Protests in Malmö during Eurovision 2024
The Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) was held in Malmö between May 7 and 11, 2024 amidst criticism and questions of how unpolitical the event was, could be and/or should be. Many criticized that Russia had been excluded from the ESC in the same year as the invasion of Ukraine and yet, no such action was taken in the case of Israel.
On May 9 and 11, thousands of people from Sweden and Denmark took to the streets to call for Israel's exclusion from the ESC and an immediate ceasefire, and to show solidarity with the civilians in Gaza.
