"Spring Dialogues" is the talk show about design and architecture, capturing the most intriguing events of the season, created, curated, and hosted by design historian Dr. Daniella Ohad. This episode is devoted to Bauhaus, which wasfounded in 1919 by Walter Gropius. It closed down just 14 years later when the Nazis came to power, and has since become a symbol of the freedom of the arts. Although short lived, its influence has been far-reaching, extending into the ways we live, create, think, and teach to this day. In this episode, Ohad hosts:
Paul Stirton on the New Typography Movement and on legendary graphic designer Jan Tschichold; Gil Even-Tsur on the Bauhaus legacy in Tel Aviv during the 1930s; Marisa Bartolucci on the new and radical education system formulated at the Bauhaus, and on how they came to shape design education and modern design ever since; Marianne Eggler on the 'New Interior' and its Utopian ideal; andLucinda Kaukas Havenhand on the notion of modern interior design and its key role in American mid-century culture.
