In this video, you’ll learn the difference between ‘Я могу’ and ‘Я умею’, which both mean ‘I can’.

🔻Я умею is used to talk about skills. When you want to say that you know how to do something.

🔻Я могу is used to talk about possibility. When you want to say that it is possible for you to do something.

Examples:

Skills

(I can cook = I know how to cook)

(I can’t ride a bike = I don’t know how to ride a bike)

(I can drive a car = I know how to drive a car)

Possibility

(I can’t ride a bike in the winter = It’s not possible for me to ride a bike in the winter)

(I can’t drive because I’m only 15 = It’s not possible for me to drive at this age)

(I cannot finish the project on time = It’s not possible for me to finish the project on time)

✍️ Now it’s your turn. Write in the comments your own examples with ‘Я умею’ and ‘Я могу’ to practice what you’ve learnt.

I’m looking forward to reading your comments 😊
