Fresh heifers kick and so can cows. In this video I show you how to use a belly rope or flank rope to teach your milk cow not to kick. With consistent use, she will learn to stand quietly.
So, if you have been wondering how to milk a cow that kicks, hopefully this video will help you.
**(Note: Please first be sure your milk cow isn't kicking because she is in pain. Assess her health, your machine and procedures to ensure you aren't causing the issue. It is normal for her to be sore after calving so be gentle, but she must learn not to kick.)

What you need: A length of sturdy rope, a metal ring, several hog rings and tape.
How to make it: Loop an end through the ring, fasten the loop with hog rings. Tape over the hog rings and looped over rope to cover the sharp edges.
How to use it: Throw the ring end under your cow and place the other side over her back in front of her hips.
Slip the end through the ring and pull it tight, keeping the rope infront of her udder and hips. Tie a quick release knot.
Milk as usual (minus the kicks!). When done, Remove the belly rope before you release her.
As she settles to milking, you can start tying her more loosely, eventually just laying it on her back, until you can discontinue its use.
This method works wonders. I hope it blesses you!
