Most Global Mapper workflows are initiated using some sort of data access process. This might involve simply opening the required files, streaming the relevant online data, or connecting to an existing spatial database. While accessing data in Global Mapper is a remarkably straightforward process, there are a number of variations on the theme of opening spatial data that may not be as obvious.

In the latest Global Mapper webcast we will introduce the many different data access mechanisms within the software and we will explore the extensive variety of data sources that are available to Global Mapper users. Specific topics will include:

- “Importing” versus “Opening” files
- Opening common spatial file formats
- Accessing online data
- Connecting to a Spatial Database
- Creating spatial data from an ASCII text file
- Geocoding a list of addresses
- Rectifying imagery
- Importing data using a Map Catalog
- Using a script to open data files
- Customizing the Sample Data
