In this video, Dr. Renato clarifies an important question for many women: what does the BI-RADS 3 classification mean in breast exams?

This classification indicates that the nodule found is probably benign, with less than a 2% chance of being malignant. Even so, it is essential that this type of finding be monitored regularly to ensure the patient's health and safety.

Follow-up is usually done with imaging exams every six months. During this period, the nodule is expected to remain stable, but if it shows any changes, such as an increase in size or a change in characteristics, a biopsy may be necessary for more detailed investigation.

Guidance from a breast specialist is very important, as they will define the ideal frequency for exams and the best course of action.

In addition, regular imaging exams, such as ultrasound, mammography, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), are fundamental for the early detection of breast cancer, which considerably increases the chances of a cure.
