How to create custom markdown badges (for GitHub, Quarto, pkgdown, and more!)
In this video, we'll learn how to create custom Markdown badges that can be incorporated into a variety of places, including GitHub READMEs, Quarto websites, pkgdown websites, and more! Anywhere that you can embed Markdown or HTML, you can embed a custom badge. We'll use shields.io to fully customize our badges, and explore both static and dynamic badge options.
By the end of the video, you'll know how to create badges for things like: the number of stars, forks, and contributors on your GitHub repo; the status of your pipelines; the version of your R package; information about your package on CRAN; and so much more!
