The Opel Astra Sports Tourer wagon is the gadget car every driver dreams of.

It boasts an elegant, sporty appearance, superb handling, excellent performance, modern technology, high functionality, and... well, let's take things one step at a time.

Let's start with a description of the powertrains and performance characteristics. Like the hatchback and sedan, the Opel Astra Sports Tourer wagon is equipped with three engines: a naturally-aspirated 1.6-liter producing 115 hp, and two turbocharged 1.4-liter and 1.6-liter engines producing 140 hp and 180 hp, respectively.

They are paired with a 5-speed manual (1.6-liter 115 hp engine only) or a 6-speed automatic. All engines offer excellent performance while maintaining fuel economy that's respectable for a car in their class.

The entry-level version, with its 115 hp engine, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.9 seconds. Want more performance? Then the 1.6 Turbo, with a 0-60 mph time of just 8.7 seconds, is your choice.

The creators of the Opel Astra Sports Tourer (station wagon) approached the exterior design with characteristic German pragmatism. This station wagon is a practical family car with a spacious interior and a capacious trunk. At the same time, it's aerodynamic, stylish, and elegant.

The lowered chrome grille visually increases the width of the car. The streamlined body design, elongated "eagle eye" headlights, curved rear side lines, and visually lower roofline give the Opel Astra Sports Tourer a sporty, dynamic look and reduce drag, thereby improving fuel efficiency.

Passengers in the Opel Astra Sports Tourer are also well-appointed. The rear seat offers ample legroom and shoulder room, allowing three passengers to comfortably accommodate. A modern audio system and air conditioning system create a cozy home.

The Opel Astra Sports Tourer is available in three basic trim levels, each of which can be expanded with additional options. The entry-level Essentia trim level already includes a wide range of safety systems and equipment to make every journey comfortable. The Opel Astra Essentia wagon comes equipped with ABS, ESP, heated power outside mirrors, a radio, power steering, front and side airbags for the driver and front passenger, a cargo cover, heated front seats, air conditioning, a road safety package, and more.

The next trim level, the Enjoy, is the Essentia trim, which adds an audio system with a CD player, a display and USB input, front fog lights, 17-inch textured wheels, a trip computer, power windows on all doors, and other features.

The top-of-the-line Opel Astra Sports Tourer Cosmo trim represents the pinnacle of Astra comfort. This trim includes dual-zone electronic climate control, hill-start assist, a leather steering wheel with audio controls, 17-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, and much more.

No modern car can be popular if it's not safe. The Opel Astra wagon is no exception. In addition to the aforementioned ABS, ESP, and airbags, the Astra wagon is equipped with a number of other active and passive safety systems.

The highlight of the Opel Astra Sports Tourer is its adaptive front lighting (AFL), which adjusts the brightness and direction of the light beam depending on road conditions and steering input. The system illuminates precisely the section of the road that is needed at any given moment. The Astra Sports Tourer is the only one in the Opel Astra lineup equipped with the Opel Eye front camera, which performs four functions simultaneously: it reads signs and warns of speed limits, no-overtaking warnings, intentional lane departures, and displays the distance to the vehicle in front.
