Exetior's early life is still a mystery, although it is well known that he was originally one of the Altos, entities that created life in Mobius. He was apparently banished and stripped of his powers after complications in how he saw the world, which led him to hell as an archdemon. He managed to escape hell after several bursts of Master Emerald energy. Being read by the Hell Guards, he decided to use Sonic's body to remain undetected, and copied Sonic's image, and formed a suitable body for him by replicating the blue hedgehog. Trying to take control of him, Exetior was unable to do so, and was forced out of Sonic's body by Creep. Creep told Exetior that due to Sonic's willpower, he would have to destroy Sonic's main points of determination, which are Tails, Knuckles and Eggman. The archdemon decided to deal with all three so that he could fully take control of Sonic's body.
Best Ending: After Fatal Fog (accessed by collecting all Black Rings) is defeated, Tails, Knuckles, Dr. Eggman and Metal Sonic attempt to take refuge within the Hidden Palace, however Exetior will reach him regardless of actions. Beat Exetior in all of his battle stages in Destroyed Mind, hitting him 15 times (minus) and escaping Destroyed Mind after saving Tails Knuckles and Dr. Eggman. With weakened Exetior, Metal Sonic puts Sonic's body on top of Master Emerald, and that destroys Exetior.
Good Ending: Very similar to Best Ending, however, if you CANNOT hit Exetior 15 times, Exetior will get you out of Destroyed Mind, making it (almost) impossible to escape. Knuckles mentions how they risk destroying Sonic's mind as he can't handle the power of the Emerald Master, and his prediction comes true at this end. However, Sonic's soul lives. This can also be achieved simply by not being done by Destroyed Mind, even after getting all 15 hits on Exetior.
Average End # 1 (Tails): First save Tails Knuckles and Dr. Eggman, and enter Deadly Fog (accessed by NOT collecting all Black Rings) as Tails, Exetior will attack Dr. Eggman and Knuckles, but Tails deflects him. . Exetior will try to attack Tails again, but the cute fox dodges again, this time Exetior will be impaled by a spike. Exetior will insult Tails by saying how he killed all of Sonic's friends as if they were nothing, and Tails kills him. Then the credits roll, and Tails is flying in one direction, and Sonic's soul appears in front of him.
Average Ending # 2 (Knuckles): First save Tails Knuckles and Dr. Eggman, and then enter Deadly Fog as Knuckles, Exetior will attack Dr. Eggman, followed by Tails, then he will return to Knuckles, but he blocks Exetior and Knuckles exchange teasing and Exetior throws Knuckles back with immense power. Exetior asks Knuckles if he has any last words and responds with "See you in Hell" and Sonic / Exetior beheads. Then the credits roll, and after much climbing, Knuckles will meet Sally, Amy and Cream.
