Most of my subscribers are were not yet born when these great photojournalists broke from the ranks and created photo story after photo story that fascinated millions of Americans
This is a portion of my television documentary made for the 50th anniversary of Life Magazine. I was thrilled to get the chance to speak with these great photojournalists and to have them talk to me about some of the best photographs and stories. During the 1940s, the 1950s, and the 1960s, Life Magazine was delivered to tens of millions of homes and was THE news where the photographs, enhanced by a paragraph of copy, drew people in and affected people profoundly. The photojournalist storytellers I interviewed for this film were sent on assignment after assignment to capture the essence of a person or group or an activity or event in a unique way. And each time, they succeeded. It is sad that magazines became less important as TV and then the Internet took over and that the great photojournalists who made Life Magazine tick, for the most part, are now lost in history. I do hope that this video clip helps you to become a better, and possibly great, photographer/photojournalist/picture taker.
