Is THIS the best all around lens in the entire Canon Lineup??
If you had to start with just one lens, would this be the one? Let's find out!
Intro - Darren Miles Photography
The canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS Mark ii was introduced in 2010 to replace the already well regarded version 1. The original IS lens came in at just around $1,700 - at the time of its release in 2010, the mark II came in at an eye popping $2,499!! Even today, the lens hasn't dropped that much in price, you can go to B&H Photo and take advantage of a $300 rebate and obtain the lens for a paltry $2,199.... But is it worth the stiff increase in price?
CONCLUSION:
In a nutshell;
Build Quality: 10/10 - it simply doesn't get any better
FOCUS SPEED AND ACCURACY: Blisteringly quick and deadly accurate - great for sports! 10/10
OPTICAL QUALITY and QUALITY OF RESULTS: They sort of go hand in hand, pro grade and it really doesn't get much better than this!!! great for portraits, great for weddings, great for sports... It's amazing. 10/10 and 10/10
VALUE: Hard to justify spending this kind of money when there are very capable competitors out there - notably Sigma and Tamron - for considerably less money. That said, if you're a pro who can't risk missing the shot, then the Canon is a must... 7/10
Overall, its a 47/50 and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
