Want to record your screen for tutorials, gameplay, or presentations? In this tutorial, you'll learn how to record your screen in OBS Studio efficiently and with good quality.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Open OBS Studio on your PC.
2. In the Sources panel, click the + icon.
3. Select Display Capture to record your entire screen.
4. Name the source and click OK.
5. Choose the display you want to record if you have multiple monitors.
6. Click OK to add the source.
7. Adjust the source size in the preview window if needed.
8. Go to Settings - Output - Recording and choose your recording format (MP4 or MKV recommended).
9. Select Encoder: use hardware encoding (NVENC/AMD) for better performance if available.
10. Set your recording path where files will be saved.
11. Click Start Recording to begin.
12. Perform the actions you want to capture on your screen.
13. Click Stop Recording when finished.
14. Open the saved file to review your recording.
15. Adjust resolution, FPS, or bitrate in Settings for higher or lower quality as needed.

Tip:

Using hardware encoding and keeping your screen resolution moderate helps prevent lag or stuttering during screen recording, especially on low-end PCs. Recording to an SSD also improves performance.
