Ballyhoo - Loving you
South African band formed in Johannesburg in 1974. The initial line-up was:
1. Derrick Drain - vocals (originally from Ireland)
2. Attie van Wyk - keyboards (brother of the well-known DJ, King Louis)
3. Mick Matthews - guitar, vocals (came from England with Hedgehoppers Anonymous)
4. Fergie Ferguson - bass, vocals (came from England with the Newman Showband)
5. Cedric Samson - drums
6. Shane Mahoney - drums (originally from Australia, replaced Cedric Samson)
Derrick Drain left in 1977 and Paul de Villiers joined on guitar and vocals. In 1980 Mick Matthews went solo and was replaced by Ralph Martin, while Derick Drain re-joined the band and Franco del Mei replaced Mahoney. In 1982 Derick and Attie left and Stewart Irving joined the band from England (vocals).
They had a #1 hit on the South African Top 20 in 1980 with "Man On The Moon". It charted for 19 weeks.
This song was released on 7" single in 1980 as the B-side to "Man On The Moon".
