A failed hack that had never saw the light of day. This hack was being made by MetroidMaster and I together and saw several restarts, with each restart being of better quality (and generally not as hair-pulling difficult). It was killed by a deadly bug in SMILE 2.0, at which point MetroidMaster and I decided to work and get more skilled at hacking before we tried making a hack together again. (I later started AngryFireChozo and he's working on Fear.) This is some footage of the dead hack as it remains now, and contains some examples of stuff from the earliest to the latest restart.
The backstory is kind of long, but here's a summary of events.
1. I (known as DSO on hacking forums) discover hacking and SMILE and start a half hack named Super Metroid Again
2. MetroidMaster sees what I'm doing and develops interest, he starts hacking rooms in my hack as well.
3. After learning hex editing, I'm drawn to take on ASM, and also start teaching MM about hex editing so he won't be so reliant on me.
4. After a while we realize what we had done needs improving and do a restart/revamp of some things. The general plan for the hack comes together, complete with ASM ideas.
5. A while passes while we work, then we go back and do yet another restart because we're getting good enough to make a lot of stuff we haven't touched a while in the hack look bad.
6. Quite a lot of progress is made level-design wise, but not so much on the ASM or custom graphics.
7. SMILE 2.0 is released, PLM bug ends up deleting PLMs from rooms and breaking them. Not long after constantly trying to fix the problems, we call it quits on the hack.
