Ichthyosaurus: Monster from the Depths of the Past
A unique reptile wanders in the dark depths of the ocean like a ghost from beyond time: Ichthyosaurus. This enigmatic creature was a mysterious figure who ruled the ancient seas some 200 million years before the Mesozoic Era.
Although its name means "fish lizard" in Latin, Ichthyosaurus was not actually a true dinosaur and was distantly related to modern mammals. These marine reptiles, belonging to the order Ichthyosauria, evolved from their terrestrial ancestors and adapted to a completely aquatic lifestyle.
When they were first discovered in the 19th century, Ichthyosaurus were widely found throughout Europe, from England to Belgium, Germany to Switzerland. Their unique physical characteristics and interesting behavior have aroused great interest among paleontologists and become a popular topic.
Today, Ichthyosauria is considered one of the most well-known and intriguing creatures of the prehistoric oceans. This documentary aims to offer viewers a unique discovery and scientific adventure by tracing the life, evolution and mysterious past of Ichthyosaurus.
