In this beginner-friendly Adobe After Effects tutorial, I’ll show you how to create a neon outline/glow effect around a moving subject using the FREE Video Copilot Saber plugin. We’ll cut out the subject with Roto Brush, convert the result into a mask with Auto-Trace, then apply Stroke and Saber to build a clean neon edge. Finally, we’ll animate the neon using Start Offset / End Offset keyframes and export with Adobe Media Encoder.
Topics covered:
Install and find the Saber plugin in After Effects
Roto Brush selection + refinement
Auto-Trace to generate a mask outline
Apply Stroke + Saber (Core Type: Layer Masks)
Neon preset + keyframe animation (Easy Ease)
Export via Adobe Media Encoder Queue
