An early FMVSS 208 standard performed at 30 Mph (48 Km/h) where occupants with an SRS device were unrestrained while occupants without an SRS device were restrained with a three-point seatbelt or automatic seatbelt without the manual lap belt.. This FMVSS 208 Full-Overlap Frontal Crash Test was performed at Calspan Corporation in Buffalo, New York on 11/24/1992.
Like today's FMVSS 208 tests, the vehicle is also tested for FMVSS 212. FMVSS 219, and FMVSS 301. This 1993 Toyota Paseo Coupe with an optional driver's airbag appeared to comply with all applicable FMVSS. This particular configuration has the driver unrestrained and the passenger restrained with an automatic seatbelt, but the lap belt portion is not used.
