ָAdvanced Expressions in AdapTable 2: Custom Expression Functions
AdapTable - the AG Grid extension from AdapTable Tools - ships with a native Query Language designed to allow run-time users to create powerful Expressions and Queries. The Expressions evaluated by AdapTableQL can include some very advanced features - designed for users with cutting edge requirements.
This video is the 2nd in a series that looks at these advanced elements, showing how to provide Custom Expression Functions.
AdapTableQL ships with a huge range of functions that are available in Expressions; these cater for the overwhelming majority of use cases, but where a particular requirement is missing, developers can fill the gap with custom expressions functions.
These functions contain a handler property which is invoked by AdapTable each time the Expression is evaluated, and they can receive as many arguments as required.
In this video we create 2 Custom Expression functions:
- THIS_BUSINESS_YEAR - which returns true if a given date is in current business year
- USD_CONVERT - which converts a non-dollar amount to dollars
These 2 custom expression functions are then referenced in a:
- Format Column
- Calculated Column
- Named Query
