I wrote this piece of music for the NKS (Native Kontrol Standard) vocal special competition. I really love the beauty of nature and the calming and inspiring effect it has on you when you are completely inside it and among it. For this competition we had the awesome opportunity to write music for this video using one of the vocal samples Native Instruments provided though the MetaPop website. I used the "Mimi Page Light & Shadow Ambience - C" sample and started this piece with a few piano chords in C major. I loved the change of frame from the crow to the mountains and felt that there should be a change in the music too. I decided to start the flowing piano riff at that point, which also modulates to G major, its a 5th up from C, so it feels as if the sun comes up (the modulation). The time lapse footage also fit beautifully with the rolling piano motif.
