VERACRUZ - XALAPA Via Paso de Ovejas
The toll-free route from the Port of Veracruz to the city of Xalapa, passing through Tolome, Paso de Ovejas, and Puente Nacional.
We could call it the Santa Anna route, since Antonio López de Santa Anna, who served 11 times as president of Mexico, owned many haciendas along this route: Manga de Clavo, El Lencero, El Jobo, Chipila, Santa Fe, El Guaje, etc.
The trip took a little over two hours. Traffic lights are out, and you might get ahead of the lines at toll booths and roadworks. Depending on where you leave Veracruz, the trip takes about the same time as taking the Cardel highway.
