Many outside Africa and China are unaware of the magnitude of China's road in building and financing African infrastructure. “40% of all public tenders for infrastructure in Africa” are “won by Chinese companies," explains W. Gyude Moore, former Minister of Public Work in Liberia and Senior Policy Fellow at the Center for Global Development. “The Chinese have built roads, the Chinese have built water filtration plants, they've built power generation plants, they've built…Hydro dams to generate power, to build natural gas facilitis. They've also built most of Africa's 3G and 4G mobile and technology network. They're probably going to build over 70 percent of Africa's 5G. So on every piece of infrastructure that one can think about that a country in a modern economy requires to function properly, most of that has been built by the Chinese."
