VO: Sometimes batch fading doesn’t work, often this happens if the sound contains a lot of low frequency energy or the waveforms overlap.

To begin with, we’ll be cutting up the samples like normal, in this case I’ll do it manually.
In order to add fades and fine tune them, we need to create some space between the samples.

Unfortunately there is no automatic way of doing this but I’ll show you a decent workaround. Again we will be using the shortcuts in Keyboard command focus.
Begin by selecting an empty range in the Edit window, then press C to copy.
Move the cursor to the beginning of the clip but before you continue, make sure that edit mode is set to shuffle (F1).
Now press the Apostrophe button to advance to the first transient, then press V to paste in the silence.
Notice that the following clip will move forwards by the same amount but retain its original length.
For the following clips you’ll have to press the Apostrophe button twice as we need to also Tab the silence we’ve created. Rinse and repeat until there silence between all the clips.

For more complex projects it’s worthwhile to invest in a software that can record and execute a string of keyboard commands, like for instance keyboard Maestro.

To avoid causing the sample to click or pop at the end of the wave.
We will start by zooming in closely at the end of the sample.

While you can use the short cut E to zoom toggle it’s often quicker to use Alt F, as you might have to adjust your zoom position more than once.
Make sure that the track is set to Extreme or Fit to window and then make a selection at the end of the clip, now press Alt F. Adjust the selection until you are happy with the zoom level.

Find a point where the waveform is just ending and use the shortcut S to trim off the end. Play the sample back, including the following silence to make sure that they’re no pops and more.
If you need apply a short fade at the end of the clip, use the short cut G, or select the end and press F.

Once you’re happy with the result, see the “Create and export samples” tutorial to complete the workflow.
